For my third project, I was intrigued by the life and the disappearance of the legendary Amelia Earhart. For each part of my project, I focused on a different aspect of her life. The history portion mainly focused on her disappearance and the theories circulating it, the art on the theories, and the English on how her life corrolated with women's rights in the time period when she was alive.
English
For the English portion of my project, I analyzed three poems about women's rights that were written when Amelia Earhart was alive. The poems are all by the same author, Charlotte Gilman Perkins, who was a very big feminist and social activist. I chose the three poems that I felt Amelia could be represented by the most. For each poem, I used the SOAPSTone method and then used quotes from Amelia Earhart and the poems as my reasoning. The textual evidence found from both sources backed up the ideas that I collected. Reasoning was also present when I connected the poem lines and quotes together and backed my ideas up. This part of the project made me understand how Amelia Earhart was a huge influence during her time and how she was influenced as well.

Art
For the art portion of my project, I made a portrait of Amelia Earhart using gesso and graphite. I first started out by making a grid to sketch her on with pencil. Then, I painted and shaded different areas, starting at the top, until I got the desired look. After this, I decided to collage my painting onto an image of a map that explains one theory of Amelia Earhart's disappearance. I decided to do this as it connects with the history portion of my project and it gave the painting an interesting background too.

Social Studies
For the social studies section of my third project, I researched the top three theories for Amelia Earhart's disappearance. After I had researched all of them, I ranked them in the order in which I thought they were the most plausible. To back my points up, I used my research and findings as reasoning to explain why I thought it was or wasn't as plausible. Finally, I came up with my own theory based off of the facts, my reasoning, and the other theories. In this part of my project I learned more in depth about Amelia Earhart and the theories behind her disappearance through research.
